On 24 March 2014 Chinese investigators analysing the reverse drift prediction of 300+ floating objects suggested MH370 impacted around 45.30 South, 85.30 East. Chinese search planes began trying to locate floating debris in this southern search area but were looking too far to the east, as we now know the drift direction was south at the time.
Malaysia objected to this search location because it did not fit their predictions.
